Blue Ruin Gallery welcomes Seattle, Washington’s Jason Brooks to its exhibition space with The Forgotten Circus and Other Works. Here, Brooks brings a unique look at the bizarre world of the circus sideshow. Through photography and digital imaging he turns seemingly disturbing figures into images of grace and poetic beauty.
The Forgotten Circus is a surreal trip into a world you never knew existed, where stories are told without words. These curiosity-inspiring images are equal only to the imagination behind them.
According to Brooks himself, “My work is inspired by emotion, music, and life experience. Everything I do in art is very spontaneous. I rarely have any idea of what I will be making until it is complete. I know I am finished with a piece when I sit back and view it for the first time, separating myself from my creative side, and think to myself, ‘How did I do that?’”
Brooks has exhibited his work in group and solo shows at the Forgotten Works Gallery and Art Works Gallery, both in Seattle. He has also designed a number of movie posters for independent film companies, including those for The Man Who Lived Twice and The Enemy Within.
