A.V. Phibes is a Baltimore, Maryland, native who has been a resident of Brooklyn, New York, for the past five years. With a background in art, film, and pre-med studies, Phibes has applied her various and far-reaching skills into a varied career in arts and entertainment spanning illustration, design, and traditional sideshow performance art.
As a cartoonist, Phibes is best known for the strip Evilkid Comix, which she has been producing for the past eight years. Appearing in local publications in New Mexico and Colorado, it also has attracted a modest cult following on the web.
As a performer, Phibes is better known as Vulvania Queen of Nails. Under this persona, she treats audiences to such treats as hammering nails into her nose, eating fire, laying on a bed of nails, eating glass, and more.
Phibes is also dedicated to her work in freelance illustration and design, cultivating projects for print, web, and licensing through Evilkid Productions and producing graphic properties for licensing and merchandising through Luckystarrs Graphics LLC, for which she is CEO and creative director.
Her professional design and illustration work ranges from full poster designs to small spot illustrations. Her work has appeared on advertising, promotional materials, displays, catalogs, magazines, websites, shoes, socks, stickers, mousepads, t-shirts, logos, etc. Clients have included the E.G. Smith sock company, Steve Madden shoe company, the No Boundaries clothing line, Sweet16 Intermedia, and the Seattle Sports Leagues.
